As an instructor in ENGL1101 and ENGL1102 at Georgia State University, I prioritize building strong, compassionate connections with my students. I strive to support those facing challenges, such as learning disabilities or mental health issues, by offering individualized assistance and fostering a caring classroom environment. By checking in regularly with students, providing tailored materials, and recognizing their progress, I create an inclusive and supportive atmosphere that encourages active participation and personal growth.

My teaching approach follows a structured five-step process: lead-in, clarification, demonstration, practice, and feedback, ensuring that students engage with and fully understand each concept. I focus on developing their critical thinking skills, encouraging self-reflection, and showing them how writing connects to real-life applications and future careers. I believe in teaching students how to think and communicate effectively rather than just mastering writing genres. Moving forward, I plan to deepen my student connections by offering more personalized support and fostering a stronger sense of trust in the classroom.
