Tutoring Philosophy

image.png

My tutoring philosophy focuses on understanding and addressing the most significant needs of tutees in a short, focused session. I aim to help students identify their key writing challenges, whether it’s grammar, thesis clarity, or structure, and guide them through solving these issues efficiently. I prepare for each session by reviewing tutee profiles and relevant course materials, allowing me to tailor my approach to their specific needs.

I view myself as a facilitator who encourages tutees to explore their writing process and ideas. Instead of simply correcting errors, I guide them through brainstorming, improving organization, and selecting the right word choices. My goal is to help students see themselves as writers, confident in their ability to improve, rather than simply completing assignments. By offering positive feedback and constructive suggestions, I support students in developing their unique writing voice and fostering self-reliance in the writing process
